On December 11, I took Kyler and Caden to the Bayside Church Special Needs Kids Christmas Party. It is an event put on by the Bayside Church. Throughout the year, the church has a respite program on the first Friday night of every month. During this night, they provide a staff of volunteers and therapists who are willing to watch these special needs kids (and their siblings) in order to give the parents a night off. It is a wonderful program and I am sad we were only able to take advantage of it a couple times. This is such a great ministry for families of kids with special needs!
They held a Christmas party that I thought the kids would enjoy and we were able to attend that. They provided appetizers and drinks, they had a photographer taking family pictures at no charge. They had Santa Claus for the kids that wanted to sit on his lap (neither or my boys would have anything to do with that!). And, they had a cookie-decorating table. That was where Kyler wanted to go!
Caden wasn't too impressed with being at the party for the most part. But Kyler enjoyed himself... mostly because he got to drink hot chocolate and decorate and eat cookies. :) But I am glad we went and got to enjoy the spirit of the holidays.
