1st Dental Cleaning

December 7 was a big day in the life of Caden! He had his very first dental cleaning. He had an exam in September so I could assess how well he would handle having someone poking around in his mouth. He did so well that I decided to schedule a cleaning for him.  This is a big deal for a child with so many oral aversion issues!

We are so lucky to have a good friend who is a pediatric dentist. He goes to our church and Caden has spent some time around him so he feels more comfortable with him than with some people. And we had already been to the dentist office recently so that was familiar as well. The deck was stacked in our favor and everything went off without a hitch.

Caden did phenomenal while getting his teeth cleaned. I think the biggest thing was that they didn't force him to be in the chair. They put a pillow on their lap and Caden sat on my lap and leaned back onto their pillow. He felt safe and comfortable with me holding him and the cleaning went so well. The Dr. Chris came to do another exam and that went well also. We will miss their office!

Opening wide to his cleaning!

Caden is saying "cheeeeese" while Dr. Chris gives him a hug  :)
